Multi-groove internationally patented

The multi-groove has been incorporated into the books of the US Patent and Trademark Office.

In 1790, US President George Washington signed the first US patent – for a process of making potash, an ingredient used in fertilizer. Since that time more than six million patents have been granted in the United States, for example the telephone, the GPS system and in 2018 also the patent for the multi-groove by BASS.

The multi-groove for internal thread machining with minimum quantity lubrication (MQL), was first presented at the AMB 2016. Since then, the novel groove form made by the tool producer BASS, became also established as a tool life increasing geometry for thread machining with emulsion.

During MQL-processing, the multi-groove collects contaminations due to the process and evacuates them. A subsequent cleaning of the work piece can be omitted. Additionally, the MQL-aerosol, which is contained in the bore hole, will be evacuated better by the special form of the multi-groove and generates a supplemental lubrication effect. This principle works also in thread machining with emulsion. The inflow as well as the outflow of the cooling lubricant during the thread machining will be trouble-free, performance-enhancing and get a higher process safety.

The multi-groove was already registered in the European and Chinese Patent Office and it is additionally protected against plagiarism by the registration at the US Patent Office.
