BASS celebrates 75th company anniversary
On January 01, 1947, the 35-year-old Kurt Bass founded a "mechanical workshop specializing in threading tools". The next 75 years are characterized by growth and change.
In the 1950s, after it was no longer permitted to manufacture in the old building in Plochingen, a new home was needed and found in Niederstetten. In 1956, the company moves to the new building in the city valley.
In the 1980s, BASS enters the export markets, first in Europe and then in Asia. New halls are built and at the beginning of the new millennium massive investments are made in the modernization of IT, such as a new ERP system and a 3D CAD.
Due to the rapid growth and increasing industrialization of the company, it was soon no longer possible to expand at the old location. Within a construction period of only nine months, the foundation stone for the future of BASS is laid in the industrial park above the town and production begins in January 2005. The new company headquarters receives several architectural awards, among others for exemplary commercial buildings and the best ecological concept.
The following years reinforce the company's claim to innovation, quality and high performance. BASS is audited and successfully certified according to the requirements of the German automotive industry. In addition, a likewise certified environmental, as well as an energy management system is introduced. In 2017, BASS establishes its own sales office in Shanghai to better serve the Asian market.
Independent of the many activities, the employees are the focus of daily activities. The comprehensive commitment is awarded several times, including "Family-conscious company", "Excellent training company", "Future prize for family-friendly company", "Top 1% of German employers", "Best employers for women", "Best companies for families" and "Germany's best trainers".
In December 2019, the granddaughter of the founder leaves the company. BASS becomes part of the OSG Group and thus belongs to the world's largest manufacturer of shank tools. With the purchase of neighboring property in 2021, BASS commits to the location and secures the possibility for an expansion of the company headquarters.
What did not change in all these years is the love for detail, the passion for technology and the commitment to quality. As in the early years, BASS is characterized by a high vertical depth of manufacture, from the raw material to the finished product. Development, production and sales of the precision tools take place in Niederstetten. Today, BASS stands worldwide for high-precision products for industrial, efficient thread production. The mechanical workshop has become an innovative company with state-of-the-art machinery and highly qualified employees. The company thanks the latter for 75 years of "Technik für Gewinde" (Technology for Threads).
