Energy management system successfully certified

“We do not have to take this hurdle but we want to“, says Dr. Stefanie Leenen, Managing Director at BASS. While energy audits are obligatory for large companies, we have implemented an energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001 voluntarily.

This norm contains requirements on a system to sustainably reduce energy demand and therefore CO2-emissions. “Environment and climate protection are important concerns for us. We do not only talk about it, but also act accordingly“, Dr. Stefanie Leenen emphasizes. This is comprehensively reviewed on an annual and detailed basis by independent TÜV experts. To obtain and also to keep the certificate, it is required to continuously establish systems and processes to improve the energy related performance and to objectively prove them.

“During our preparations for the audit, it turned out that this hurdle would be surmountable despite high requirements“, Managing Director Martin Zeller adds. “For many years now, we have been steering our investments towards the saving of resources and energy within our processes. Our intense activities in recent years aiming for this purpose have now paid off.”

The certification of the energy management system supplements our existing certificates. Since 2011, we have implemented a certified environmental management system and since 2003 a certified quality management system.
